雪莱最著名的十四行诗，被誉为英语诗中关于权力与时间最锋利的一击。一位旅人讲起沙漠里的废墟：石腿矗立，破碎的脸躺在沙上，嘴角还挂着冷酷的轻蔑；底座刻着 "我是万王之王奥兹曼迪亚斯，强者们，看看我的功业，绝望吧！" 然而四周——什么也没有，只剩孤寂平坦的沙，一直延伸到天边。
