Crossing the Bar

bar
/bɑːr/
n.
When I put out to sea, may there be no moaning of the bar.
moaning
/ˈmoʊ.nɪŋ/
n./v.
May there be no moaning of the bar.
foam
/foʊm/
n.
Too full for sound and foam.
boundless
/ˈbaʊnd.ləs/
adj.
That which drew from out the boundless deep.
twilight
/ˈtwaɪ.laɪt/
n.
Twilight and evening bell.
farewell
/ˌfeərˈwel/
n.
May there be no sadness of farewell.
embark
/ɪmˈbɑːrk/
v.
I embark when the call comes.
bourne
/bɔːrn/
n.
From out our bourne of Time and Place.
flood
/flʌd/
n.
The flood may bear me far.
Pilot
/ˈpaɪ.lət/
n.
I hope to see my Pilot face to face.

When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,

Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
